Cold Sandwiches – April thru June

Beginning on April 4, we will switch from Grilled Cheese to lunch meat sandwiches to go along with sweet treats, fruit and beverages. There are two options available to you to help with the main dish:

  • You can opt to make the sandwiches yourself – with materials that you purchase or have provided by our Outreach ministry team
  • You can choose to pay for hoagies to be provided from Centrella’s for $100, payable to CHA: Outreach. (one 9-foot meat and cheese hoagie + 1 tuna hoagie which together provide sandwiches for just over 40 people) We will do the pickup and delivery for you.

When you sign up for a lunch, please use the NOTE field to specify which option you’re choosing.

The dates for lunches are:

May 2, 16 & 30
June 13 & 27

Project Share Self-Care BBQ

Wednesday, May 17
11am-3pm
7200 Chestnut Street
Upper Darby PA

DelCo Project Share is hosting a Self-care Cook-Out to serve their participants. We have been invited to this great event to socialize, meet and greet their participants whom we have been providing for over the last three years.

Different organization have offered to help with the supplies for the barbecue. Holy Apostles will be providing the main course: Hamburgers. Chicken, Sausage and Hot Dogs. We have funds in Outreach to cover these costs. If you would like to contribute to defray the costs, please speak to Cassie.

In addition, we are looking to provide homemade baked goods: Cakes, Pies, Cookies or Brownies. If you are interested in baking for this event, please let Cassie know.

Magazines Needed

We are extending our call for magazines through the month of April as we now have projects lined up at Park Lane Elementary and Project Share. If you have any magazines lying around that would be suitable, please remove any address labels and then drop them off on the Outreach shelves or the CAN-estoga wagon. This is a short-term collection item.

+ HELP NEEDED LOADING CANNED GOODS

The response to this month’s food drive for canned fruits and vegetables has been great. Now we just have to get them where they’re going! If you are available for a few minutes following the 10AM service, we could use help in carting items from the Outreach closet shelves to Cassie’s car.

Jess Geffen, our liaison with the Darby school district, has let us know that there is a High School Senior in need of funds to pay for cap and gown rental and prom tickets. The total needed is $170 and is scheduled to be paid using funds from Outreach. If you would like to help defray these costs, please speak to Cassie.

+ PROJECT SHARE BBQ – WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 11AM0-3PM
We have been invited to a barbecue to meet and mingle with the folks we’ve been helping over the past three years. Scroll back up to the OUTREACH section of this email for more details!

+ READERS/INTERCESSORS NEEED
Please consider signing up for reading or intercessing duties for an upcoming service! The schedule has been posted through Trinity Sunday (June 4). If you have any questions about serving in this capacity, please contact Katie Gentile: katie@thegentiles.com or 484-269-2170

+ PLEASE RETURN YOUR LAWN SIGN STAKES
If you had one or more of our Easter Lawn signs in your yard – THANK YOU for helping to spread the news of our events and services. And now, please return the sign stakes so we can reuse them next time. The sign itself cannot be used as it has dates on it which won’t be valid for another 5 years. But returning the stakes will save us money next time around. You can return them to the Office for cleaning and storage. If you need assistance, please contact Jean Gentile

+ STAY WARM WITH APOSTLE’S CUP!
You can purchase bags of regular-ground; regular-whole bean; and/or decaf-ground varieties. Each bag is $15, with $4 from each purchase going directly to the ministries of the Darby Mission. We have plenty of coffee available for purchase on Sundays, or any time the office is open (see Office Hours schedule below). You can also purchase Apostle’s Cup coffee direct from House Cup Coffee and have it shipped to your door!

RECYCLING: We are collecting the metal clips on House Cup coffee bags to recycle them back to House Cup for reuse. There should be a jar on the coffee sales table for this purpose – but if Katie forgets to put it out, you can leave your clips on her desk (that will teach her!)

+ MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?

But as for me, I will look to the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
my God will hear me.
Micah 7:7

The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the narthex and on our website. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. James, Nancy Haas, or use the form on our website.
