Grilled Cheese Lunches

Cold Sandwiches – April thru June

Beginning on April 4, we will switch from Grilled Cheese to lunch meat sandwiches to go along with sweet treats, fruit and beverages. There are two options available to you to help with the main dish:

  • You can opt to make the sandwiches yourself – with materials that you purchase or have provided by our Outreach ministry team
  • You can choose to pay for hoagies to be provided from Centrella’s for $100, payable to CHA: Outreach. (one 9-foot meat and cheese hoagie + 1 tuna hoagie which together provide sandwiches for just over 40 people) We will do the pickup and delivery for you.

When you sign up for a lunch, please use the NOTE field to specify which option you’re choosing.

The dates for lunches are:
April 4 & 18
May 2, 16 & 30
June 13 & 27

Magazines Needed

We are extending our call for magazines through the month of April as we now have projects lined up at Park Lane Elementary and Project Share. If you have any magazines lying around that would be suitable, please remove any address labels and then drop them off on the Outreach shelves or the CAN-estoga wagon. This is a short-term collection item.

+ LENTEN FORUMS – THE IMPORTANCE OF HOLY WEEK
If you missed last week’s discussion, you can prepare for what’s ahead by viewing the session video here.

+ AGAPE MEAL UNDER THE TENT – APRIL 6 @ 6:30PM
Join us for an Agape meal, or simple supper, on Maundy Thursday, April 6th beginning at 6:30pm under the tent. This light repast will include olives, dried fruits, hummus and pita, cheese, Mediterranean salad and vegetable broth.

Volunteer to bring something using the signup sheet on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall, or contact Drew Meiers to let him know you can help out.

We look forward to sharing this meal with you. Bring a friend! And stay afterwards for our celebration of Maundy Thursday beginning at 7:30pm in the Sanctuary.

+ ALTAR OF REPOSE

The altar of repose will be set up in the prayer closet off of the narthex. Vigil will be kept from 9PM on Maundy Thursday following the evening service, until 9:15AM on Good Friday, followed by Morning Prayer. If you would like to take part in the vigil tradition, you can sign up for one or more one-hour sessions using our Sign-up sheet.

If you have questions or need assistance in signing up for your vigil slot, please contact Katie – office@holyapostlespa.org – 610-642-6617

+FIRST AID KIT
Our First Aid Kit has entered the 21st Century! You can find the new box in left side of the credenza shelves on the top right shelf. Here’s hoping we never need it!

+ OLIVE WOOD CROSSES
Included in the gift bags we hand out to visitors to Holy Apostles is a small olive wood cross. These pocket sized crosses fit in your pocket or purse and can provide comfort or serve as a reminder to take a moment out of a busy day to pray for those in need, or to offer thanksgiving for the blessings in your life.

They’re not just for visitors, though. There is a bowl of them available on the windowsill in the office hallway. Feel free to take one to keep nearby on your journey through life. A small card of explanation is also available in the bowl.

+ EASTER ALTAR FLOWERS
Easter is quickly approaching. It will be a glorious time of rejoicing, remembrance, and thanksgiving. This is true because we believe that those whom we love and see no longer will one day live again through the power and the light of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is what we celebrate at Easter.

To put earthly beauty in the service of our heavenly faith in Jesus, it is our custom at Holy Apostles to remember our deceased friends and family members with a beautiful array of Easter flowers. If you would like to participate in this custom, please send, or hand deliver the names of the deceased loved ones you would like to remember to the church office along with a donation.

The suggested donation is $10.00 per name, but please do give only as you are able and so moved.

TO PARTICIPATE:

  • Send your check along with a list of those to be remembered to the church:
1020 Remington Rd, Wynnewood PA 19096

    —OR—
  • Use the Give button on our website to make an electronic donation. The “To” list includes an option for Flower Memorials. If you choose this option, please email your list of those to be remembered to Patty Wertz (psw17@comcast.net ) or to the church office (office@holyapostlespa.org)

Deadline: THIS MONDAY, April 3

+ PREPARING THE CHURCH FOR OUR EASTER CELEBRATIONS
You are invited to join the members of our Altar Guild on Saturday, April 8 at 9:30am to help decorate the sanctuary for this year’s Easter Celebrations. Please come and lend a hand!

+ A JUBILEE CELEBRATION AT HOLY APOSTLES – THURSDAY, APRIL 13 @ 6:00 PM
The Bishop’s staff will be visiting us on Thursday, April 13 for a time of fellowship. If the weather cooperates, we’ll be meeting on the front lawn under the tent! No need to bring anything except yourself, your friends & family, and your love of Holy Apostles! Make plans now to join the party!

+ STAY WARM WITH APOSTLE’S CUP!
You can purchase bags of regular-ground; regular-whole bean; and/or decaf-ground varieties. Each bag is $15, with $4 from each purchase going directly to the ministries of the Darby Mission. We have plenty of coffee available for purchase on Sundays, or any time the office is open (see Office Hours schedule below). You can also purchase Apostle’s Cup coffee direct from House Cup Coffee and have it shipped to your door!

RECYCLING: We are collecting the metal clips on House Cup coffee bags to recycle them back to House Cup for reuse. There should be a jar on the coffee sales table for this purpose – but if Katie forgets to put it out, you can leave your clips on her desk (that will teach her!)

+ MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone
1 Timothy 2:1

The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the narthex and on our website. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. James, Nancy Haas, or use the form on our website.

  • Continued prayers are needed for Rick Gallagher’s mom, Phil Gallagher, who suffered a stroke this past week while in the hospital for leukemia treatments.
  • Please pray for John Day. His cancer has returned. He and Linda are working with his doctors to decide the best plan of treatment.
  • Our friend, Marc Dent, passed away unexpectedly last weekend. Marc was a partner in House Cup Coffee and he and Cassie Woestman worked closely together on all things regarding our Apostles Cup program. Marc was a man of incredible gentleness and heart. Please pray for his family and his work family as they deal with this loss.
  • Please pray for Katie Gentile’s sister, Meg McKenna, who will be having surgery on April 3rd to replace parts of a prosthetic elbow joint (which she just had placed on February 15) due to a new infection in the joint.
  • Please pray for those who will be baptized during the Easter season: Jordi Geli Vilardell (grandchild of Ann Powers) and Abigail Clare Buschenfeldt (grandchild of Nancy Haas), their families and godparents.
  • Thankful for answered prayers, please remove Victoria Klumpp from the Friday prayer list as she is very much improved and back home after a long hospitalization (including being on life support in the ICU) after being hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk in Boston.

Prayer – it’s not just words, it’s a lifestyle
