Special Request: Aid for Asylum Seeking Refugees

Cassie & Katie dropped off the latest round of donations to Gladwyne Presbyterian Church on Thursday – three bags and one box of warm clothing of all sizes!

You can help by:

  • purchasing items and dropping them off on the Outreach shelves in the narthex closet
  • purchasing items and shipping them directly to the church – please remember to mark your packages “Attention: Outreach”
  • making a donation to Outreach – marking “Refugees” in the memo line and it will be used to purchase specifically requested items for this project.

We will be collecting items for at least the next month, and will continue as long as busloads of folks in need are arriving. Items will be delivered to or picked up by Gladwyne Presbyterian on a weekly basis to insure getting the donated items to those in need as quickly as possible. Questions? Contact Katie

Food Giveaway:

For the MARCH Food Giveaway, we are looking for breakfast cereals. Preferred varieties are: Honey Nut Cheerios, Frosted Flakes and Life. We will be collecting cereal through Tuesday, March 14, for delivery and distribution on Wednesday, March 15.

We are also continuing to collect Celebration Cake Kits (or Birthday Blessing Boxes) to be able to provide 5 per month along with our food collection item. Each kit should contain:

  • cake mix
  • cake frosting
  • lemon-lime soda (replaces eggs and oil)
  • candles
  • sprinkles
  • card
  • all placed in a single-use baking pan

We have about 50 white bags with handles available, so you don’t need to worry about that part.

You can leave your donations:

  • on the Outreach shelves in the narthex closet
  • in the CANestoga wagon in the office hallway
  • ship them directly to the church Attn: Outreach

If you need assistance getting your donations to the church, please contact Katie in the church office to arrange transport: or 610-642-6617

Our Rector’s musical tastes are nothing if not eclectic! Join him on an exploration of music suitable to the season. The first sessions is THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1 @ 6:30pm, using the Compline Zoom Link. Each session will end with a Compline service. Due to the wealth of subject matter, the actual start time of Compline may be delayed from it’s regular 7:30pm time. We hope that those of you who faithfully attend Compline will join us at the earlier time and continue through to the prayer time.

  • Session Two, on March 15, will include a special guest: The Rev. Jonathan Jameson, Priest and Bassist for Delta Spirit. Don’t miss it! Invite your friends to join us.
  • We have created an Eventbrite invitation that you can use for yourself or encourage your friends to sign up for these events and receive the Zoom link in an email. We will also be posting the link on our FB and Instagram pages:
  • PLAYLIST FOR MARCH 1st Session: You can start listening now in preparation for Wednesday night. You can listen on Spotify or YouTube

Join us on three consecutive Sundays following the 10AM service for Lenten Forums. Grab your coffee and a sweet treat and find a seat in Memorial Room as we delve into the Psalms and Holy Week.

During our Fire, Flapjacks & Fellowship event this past Tuesday evening the young people in attendance worked together to create this banner which has now been boxed and buried on the property, not to be seen again until Easter morning. There is a marker on the burial site. We are hopeful that the marker will remain for the next 45 days (including the Sundays in Lent, even though they don’t count in the 40 days of Lent) so that it can be easily located for unveiling on that glorious morning!

If you would like to help prepare the March newsletter mailing, please meet us in the Memorial Room on Tuesday, February 28 at 10:30am for folding, stuffing, stamping and laughter.

We will again be hosting the Pockets of Hope group on Saturday, March 4, from 9am to 1pm, a non-profit organization providing FREE mastectomy hoodies with drain pockets for after surgery.

If you know how to sew and have a sewing machine of your own, you are most welcome to join them in their time of stitching and fellowship. And if their last visit was any indication, they have some pretty great snacks as well!

To learn how you can help this project, contact Kiersten Wertz Lopez at or just show up on the 4th with your sewing machine!
