We are currently accepting warm clothing for children and adults including
sweaters, coats, boots, hats, scarves & gloves.

You can help by:

  • purchasing items and dropping them off on the Outreach shelves in the narthex closet
  • purchasing items and shipping them directly to the church – please remember to mark your packages “Attention: Outreach”
  • making a donation to Outreach – marking “Refugees” in the memo line and it will be used to purchase specifically requested items for this project.

We will be collecting items for at least the next month, and will continue as long as busloads of folks in need are arriving. Items will be delivered to or picked up by Gladwyne Presbyterian on a weekly basis to insure getting the donated items to those in need as quickly as possible. Questions? Contact Katie

+ GIVING ENVELOPES
Our vendor for giving envelopes let us down this year and has yet to deliver our order. This week, we made our own giving envelopes and sent them out to those who generally make use of the envelopes each year. You should have received your packet with Quarterly, Monthly or Weekly envelopes – depending on your giving preferences. If you did NOT receive envelopes and would like to have some, please contact either JT Wertz or Katie and we’ll get them out to you! Thank you to everyone for your continued dedication to and support of Holy Apostles.

+ BIBLE STUDY – THURSDAYS FROM 11AM-12PM ON ZOOM
Have you been thinking about joining Bible Study but were worried about coming in on the middle of something? Worry no more! Beginning Thursday, February 16, we’re starting something new! Each Thursday we’ll read, discuss and meditate on the lectionary readings for the upcoming Sunday. We’ll get to go deeper into the themes of the readings than we normally get to do on a Sunday morning. This is a great time to join us! Bible Study Zoom Link Questions? Contact Nancy Haas or Father James

+ SHROVE TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 21 @ 6:30PM – FIRE, FLAPJACKS & FELLOWSHIP
Join us for an event in the parking lot on Tuesday, February 21! Chilly temps? Not a problem! We’ll have the firepit going, as well as our two propane heaters!

FIRE:

  • We will be burning last year’s palms to create this year’s ashes
  • Bring your own palms to burn if you’d like
  • Face it – it’s always fun to watch Fr. James play with fire.

FLAPJACKS:

  • A flattop grill will be onsite so we can all enjoy some silver dollar pancakes in honor of Shrove Tuesday.

FELLOWSHIP:

  • Come enjoy the fire and each other in a pre-Lent get-together for ALL AGES!!!
  • Bring along snacks and beverages for yourself or to share!

+ LENTEN MIXTAPE – ZOOM SESSIONS – WEDNESDAYS, MARCH 1 & 15 @ 6:30PM
Our Rector’s musical tastes are nothing if not eclectic! Join him on an exploration of music suitable to the season. These sessions will be held on two Wednesday evenings in March, beginning at 6:30pm, using the Compline Zoom Link. Each session will end with a Compline service. Due to the wealth of subject matter, the actual start time of Compline may be delayed from it’s regular 7:30pm time. We hope that those of you who faithfully attend Compline will join us at the earlier time and continue through to the prayer time.

Session Two, on March 15, will include a special guest: The Rev. Jonathan Jameson, Priest and Bassist for Delta Spirit. Don’t miss it! Invite your friends to join us.

+ LENTEN FORUMS in the MEMORIAL ROOM
Join us on three consecutive Sundays following the 10AM service for Lenten Forums. Grab your coffee and a sweet treat and find a seat in Memorial Room as we delve into the Psalms and Holy Week.

+ POCKETS OF HOPE, MARCH 4
We will again be hosting the Pockets of Hope group on Saturday, March 4, from 9am to 1pm, a non-profit organization providing FREE mastectomy hoodies with drain pockets for after surgery.

If you know how to sew and have a sewing machine of your own, you are most welcome to join them in their time of stitching and fellowship. And if their last visit was any indication, they have some pretty great snacks as well!

To learn how you can help this project, contact Kiersten Wertz Lopez at kiersten.wertz@gmail.com or just show up on the 4th with your sewing machine!

+ STAY WARM WITH APOSTLE’S CUP!
You can purchase bags of regular-ground; regular-whole bean; and/or decaf-ground varieties. Each bag is $15, with $4 from each purchase going directly to the ministries of the Darby Mission. You can also purchase Apostle’s Cup coffee direct from House Cup Coffee and have it shipped to your door!

Cassie recently introduced Apostle’s Cup to St George’s in Ardmore. She even takes it along when she travels!

+ MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?

In my trouble I cried to the Lord,
And He answered me.
Psalm 120:1

The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the narthex and on our website. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. James, Nancy Haas, or use the form on our website.

  • Dan Dugan asks for your prayers for Angelica Piacentini. She is the sister of the Controller at his office. Angelica is the woman who was hit by the block of the façade that fell from a Center City building last week. She remains in critical condition.
  • Please keep Rev. Doris in you prayers as she continues to deal with back pain that impedes her mobility. The current treatment is ineffective and she is hoping to be scheduled for surgery sooner rather than later.
  • Prayers requested for Jamie Wilcutts as he deals with a bout of COVID. He was in the hospital for a few days but is now recovering at home.
