Special Request: Aid for Refugees
We have been asked to join with Gladwyne Presbyterian Church and other faith communities in the area to provide much needed clothing to refugees who are being bussed to Philadelphia from Texas.
We will be providing:
SWEATPANTS and SOCKS – ALL SIZES, FOR MEN AND WOMEN
You can help by:
- purchasing items and dropping them off on the Outreach shelves in the narthex closet
- purchasing items and shipping them directly to the church – please remember to mark your packages “Attention: Outreach”
- making a donation to Outreach – marking “Refugees” in the memo line
We will be collecting items for at least the next month, and will continue as long as busloads of folks in need are arriving. Items will be delivered to Gladwyne Presbyterian on a weekly basis to insure getting the sweatpants and socks to those in need as quickly as possible. Questions? Contact Katie
DARBY MISSION
December Food Giveaway:
The next Darby Food Giveaway is scheduled for Wednesday, December 21. Rev. Doris has asked us to provide the following items to the best of our ability:
- Canned Cranberry Sauce
- Canned String Beans
- Canned Yams
Please bring your items to church by Tuesday, December 20, so that they can be delivered on time to the Mission for distribution. The mission has been providing food for an average of 150 people per month.
Drop off locations:
- Designated shelves in the closet off of the narthex
- CAN-estoga wagon in the hallway outside the office
We’re off to a good start – this is the situation as of Tuesday of this week: 26 cans of green beans; 32 cans of cranberry sauce; 17 cans of yams.
Let’s see if we can get at least 75 of each item by December 20!

Project Share
Soup Week – December 19-23
Our dinner deliveries to Project Share continue to be well received. Thank you to all who contribute to this vital ministry. The December 6 meal is now completely covered!
The week before Christmas – December 19-23 – has been declared Soup Week! Hot and hearty homemade soup will be provided each day of the week by our friend Andrea St Amour. Some of you might know her as the mom of Eli of Eli’s Honey Bees. To accompany this generosity we are looking for help with the rest of the meal, particularly:
- Crusty bread – Make a donation for fresh crusty bread which will be purchased and delivered fresh each day by our Outreach team.
- Hot Chocolate Packets – Provide a box of hot chocolate packets, or a donation to cover the cost
- Tea Bags – Provide a box of tea bags, or a donation to cover the cost
- Apostle’s Cup Coffee – Pay for a bag of Apostle’s Cup ($15) to be delivered along with the meal
Sign up on our SignUpGenius page, or talk to Cassie or Katie to offer assistance.

Our Advent Bag donations, along with a delicious meal provided by Lyn DeSilets and Patty Wertz this week, were delivered to Project Share amid the Tuesday morning drizzle. The weather did not in any way dampen the enthusiasm of those who received your gifts. Thank you for your generosity!

PLEASE NOTE
At this time we are ONLY accepting book donations for children, level 5th grade and below. We will accept any children’s books no matter the genre, in addition to our request for holiday themed, above. At this time we have more general audience books than we can handle. We will let you know if/when the situation changes. Thank you!

Work is again underway to turn the 2nd closet off of the narthex into a prayer room.
We are currently in search of two items:

- A small bookshelf to hold a BCP and other small books to be used in prayer.
If you have anything you feel might be useful and you’re willing to part with it, please contact Katie in the office: email: holyapostlespa@gmail.com
phone: 610-642-6617

+ MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication.
Ephesians 6:18a
The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the narthex and on our website. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. James, Nancy Haas, or use the form on our website.
- Please keep Kiersten (née Wertz) & Dan Lopez in your prayers for private concerns. They have been added to Thursdays on the Parish Prayer List.
- Please pray for the family of Robert Ball – a fellow pilgrim in the Holy Land this year. Robert died this past week from injuries sustained in a car accident over Thanksgiving. His family was with him when he died, and I pray that brings them some level of peace. I know he rests in his Savior’s arms, but loss at this time of year is especially hard. Please pray for the Ball family, and all who are dealing with such loss at this time. May the comfort of the Holy Spirit be felt by all who mourn.
Prayer – it’s not just words, it’s a lifestyle
