The week before Christmas – December 19-23 – has been declared Soup Week! Hot and hearty homemade soup will be provided each day of the week by our friend Andrea St Amour. Some of you might know her as the mom of Eli of Eli’s Honey Bees. To accompany this generosity we are looking for help with the rest of the meal, particularly:

  • Crusty bread – Make a donation for fresh crusty bread which will be purchased and delivered fresh each day by our Outreach team.
  • Hot Chocolate Packets – Provide a box of hot chocolate packets, or a donation to cover the cost
  • Tea Bags – Provide a box of tea bags, or a donation to cover the cost
  • Apostle’s Cup Coffee – Pay for a bag of Apostle’s Cup ($15) to be delivered along with the meal

At this time we are ONLY accepting book donations for children, level 5th grade and below. We will accept any children’s books no matter the genre, in addition to our request for holiday themed, above. At this time we have more general audience books than we can handle. As is our tradition we will be decking the church with Christmas poinsettias, offering these Christmas flowers for the glory of God and in memory of those we love. If you would like to participate in this custom, please provide us with the names of the deceased loved ones you would like to remember along with a donation. The suggested donation is $10.00 per name, but please do give only as you are able and so moved.

You may email the names of your loved ones to us and use our online “give” button on website in order to donate. On the online form you can select “Flower Memorials” in the To: drop down list.

You may also mail the names and/or a check to the church office.

Deadline: Monday, December 19

Speaking of altar flowers, the following three dates are currently available in 2023:

  • January 29 (last Sunday in January)
  • May 28 (last Sunday in May)
  • July 16 (3rd Sunday in July)

If you would like to reserve one of these dates, please contact Patty Wertz:

You may choose to to book the date just for 2023 or on an ongoing basis. Please note that if you choose recurring the actual date will adjust in future years, as Sunday dates change from year to year.

On Friday, December 16th, our hearty band of carolers would like to come by your house and spread some Christmas cheer by singing a lovely carol for you! If you would like to be included in this festive tradition or know someone who would enjoy being sung to, please contact the office and we’ll do our best to work you into the map for the evening! You can request to be caroled regardless of whether or not you are planning to attend the CHA Christmas Party at the Kraft/Zorc home later that evening (see below). Caroling begins shortly after 6:15pm, weather permitting.

Please join us on Friday, December 16th for our traditional Caroling Party, hosted this year at the home of Judi Kraft and Joe Zorc, 1321 Wyngate Rd. in Wynnewood. The caroling is optional, but the party is a MUST!

Gather at the church at 6:15 to join a caravan of singers who will visit the homes of select parish members to bring cheer and sing traditional carols. Or just come to the party any time after 8 pm. Please bring a snack, dessert, or beverage to share. Celebrating the season with our Holy Apostles family is always a lot of fun!

Your Good News committee has purchased 20 lawn signs announcing our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Some will be placed on the church lawn and others have already been claimed by Vestry members for their lawns. If you would like to help spread the news about Holy Apostles, please speak to Linda Day or Jean Gentile.

Signs will be available for pickup on Sunday. If you need assistance, Jean is happy to post the sign on your lawn for you.

Please mark your calendar and be sure to join us for a combined service on Sunday, December 11 at 10AM. The Rt. Rev. Daniel G. P. Gutiérrez, Bishop of the Diocese of Pennsylvania, will be our celebrant and preacher. During this service, our bishop will also be confirming the 4 young men who have been part of this year’s Confirmation & Dragons class. Following the service there will be a special coffee hour in the Parish Hall. We look forward to seeing our entire Holy Apostles family at this special service.

It is never too late to make a pledge! If you have not yet made a pledge to Holy Apostles for 2023, please do so at your earliest convenience.
