DARBY MISSION

November Collection items:
For Thanksgiving, we have been tasked with providing enough celebration cake kits so that each family served by the Food Giveaway can have a celebration dessert of their own for the holiday. We are looking to gather at least 50 complete kits.
You can choose to provide a complete cake kit or – any part of a kit – and then we’ll assemble on Sunday, November 13th during coffee hour following the 10AM service. Here is a link to the TikTok video that inspired Suzanne Lees to share this idea!
To create our 50 kits, we need:
- 50 cake mix
- 50 cake frosting
- 50 12-ounce can of lemon-lime soda (replaces eggs and oil)
- 50 sprinkles
- 50 homemade cards **see below
- 50 single-use 13” x 9” baking pan
- 50 10x13x5 handled paper bags
If we get extras, that’s good too! There’s always a reason to celebrate!

KIDS – we need your help with this project!
We are looking to gather 50 homemade Thanksgiving cards to put in our Thanksgiving cake kits. We would like our children to create Thanksgiving cards to be included with each package. Have them draw Thanksgiving themed pictures – turkeys, pilgrims, horn of plenty, etc. – and add wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving. They can also choose to share what they are thankful for this year. We will need cards for 50 kits so making multiple cards would be great! Completed cards are needed by Sunday, November 13th.
Project Share
Bi-Monthly Dinners
Our next dinner delivery is scheduled for November 8 and we have the main course and sweet treat covered. What is still needed:
- Apples for 20
- Coffee donation – pay for a bag of Apostle’s Cup to be delivered along with the meal.
- Cold beverages – three gallons of Tea Cooler from Swiss Farms, or Iced Tea/Lemonade from a store of your choosing.
Food needs to be ready in time for delivery on Tuesdays at 3:30pm. Entrées should be fully cooked, but they do not have to be hot at time of pickup (just not frozen). You do not have to make delivery yourself. Someone from the Outreach team can arrange to pick up the food and deliver to Project Share.
If you are unable to help with the November 8th meal, there are other openings in the schedule, which runs through December 20th. You can see what’s needed on our SignUpGenius page, or talk to Cassie or Katie to offer assistance.
Advent Bags
THANK YOU to all who have begun collecting items for this year’s Advent Bags. We are doing well on most of the personal care items. We need a big push for:
- Fanny packs
- Hand Warmers
- Foot Warmers
- Men’s regular underwear in sizes Large and Extra Large
- Women’s regular underwear in sizes 7 to 10
We are collecting items from now through mid-November and we will be filling the bags on November 20 following the 10AM service. Fr. James will ask God’s blessing on the Advent bags during services on November 27 and they will be distributed that week.
If you are purchasing items online you can choose to ship items to the church. Please mark the package as Attention: Outreach. Thanks!

+ ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PAGEANT
Just seven weeks remain until December 18, the date of the Holy Apostles Christmas Pageant. Time flies. If your child wants to take part in the Pageant, please email Peter Patton, pmpatton307@gmail.com, or Joe Zorc, zorc@chop.edu.
Parent volunteers are also very welcome. We look forward to hearing from you.
+ BOOK RELOCATION
If you have a moment after Coffee Hour on Sunday, we could use some assistance moving boxes of books from the back of the church and the Memorial Room into Cassie’s car. The children’s books will go to the Darby Library.
+ ALL SOULS’ DAY
Holy Apostles will not be holding our traditional Requiem Eucharist on All Souls’ Day this year. However, our friends at Church of the Good Shepherd, Rosemont, will be celebrating a Sung Requiem Mass for All Souls (11/2) at 7pm and you are welcome to attend.

+ WE HAVE SHELVES!
The storage closet in the narthex area has been spruced up and organized! We now have an organized space to hold Outreach donations until they’re ready for delivery! Over the next few weeks we’ll be completing the organization work, but this is the required first step. Thanks so much to the Property committee for making this happen, and specifically to Annette and JT for the labor!

+ DO YOU GET YOUR GROCERIES DELIVERED? DO YOU HAVE A STOCKPILE OF BAGS?
If you are enjoying home delivery of your groceries these days and have acquired a pile of handled paper bags that you can’t use, please consider donating them to our Outreach program.
