Donations from Centrella’s (see below) will provide lunches for the remaining two weeks of August.

Beginning the week of September 11 we will be providing lunches of grilled cheese sandwiches, apples, sweet treats and coffee every other Tuesday. To sign up for all or any part of lunch provision for a given week, talk to Cassie, or sign up here.

Thanks to Centrella’s Deli & Italian Market

Centrella’s closed down for a week of vacation and provided us with lots of great food to give away! Some tomato pies, loaves of bread, 4 large containers of cold cuts and 4lbs of provolone cheese – all of which was taken over to Project Share to provide a few days of lunches.

In addition, we received 4 baked ziti, 3 chicken parmesans, 3 eggplant parmesans, 5 chicken pot pies and 3 chicken croquette dinners – each of which will feed 2-4 people. Those frozen items went to Darby for distribution.

You can thank Centrella’s by giving them your business upon their return from vacation next week!

THIS Sunday, August 21st, we will be holding one service at 9:30AM under the tent. We are looking forward to getting everyone together at one time and place to celebrate our unity and the Holy Eucharist. Please plan to join us in person if you are able. This is also a great opportunity to invite someone to church! The service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.

In case you missed James’ message in the August newsletter:
”I’ll be bringing our monthly updated Parish Intercession sheet with me on the pilgrimage, but if there are special prayer intentions that you would like me to pray at the spots where it all happened—the spots where our Savior lived, taught, died, and rose again—please send them to via email or text. It will be an honor to carry your prayers with mine to the Holy Land.” – James – text: (505) 410-0672

Have something you’d like to contribute to the September Newsletter – an article, poem, announcement, “Where in the World” photo with your CHA magnet, etc.? Please send your submission to the office no later than Tuesday, August 23 for inclusion in this month’s edition of The Apostle.

If you would like to help prepare the September newsletter mailing, please meet us in the Memorial Room on Thursday, August 25th at 1:00pm for folding, stuffing, stamping and laughter. As a special treat this month, after completing the newsletter mailing duties, you can choose to stick around and help fold the Sunday leaflets for the next few weeks that will have been prepared in advance so that Katie can enjoy her pilgrimage to the Holy Land with a clear conscience!

Our Little Free Library has been delivered and now it needs to be constructed, painted and installed. There’s a team working on that and plans are set to have it ready for the dedication ceremony on September 25.

If you would like to contribute to this Good News project, here are some ways you can help:

  • we are accepting monetary donations of any amount to defray the cost of the books. Please write Little Free Library in the memo section of your check. We would like to provide new books whenever possible although gently used items may be considered.
  • we will need volunteers who can help curate what is in the LFL on a regular basis – organize the library, pull out unwanted items, check inventory for what needs to be replenished, etc.
  • if you have books you feel may be appropriate to our cause that you are willing to part with, you can speak to Fr. James.

“We have to pray with our eyes on God, not on the difficulties.”Oswald Chambers

The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the narthex and on our website. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. James, Nancy Haas, or use the form on our website.

  • Please pray for Fr. James as he travels to the Holy Land on Tuesday (8/23) to prepare for this year’s pilgrimage.

Prayer – it’s not just words, it’s a lifestyle

Remember to pick up your supplies of Apostles’ Cup and/or CHA coffee mug from the table under the tent on Sundays! You can also stop by the office during office hours to select what you need. Apostles’ Cup coffee can also be purchased direct from House Cup Coffee. All proceeds from coffee sales go to support the programs of the Darby Mission.

Visit our SignUpGenius page to volunteer for:

  • Chalice Bearer/Acolyte – contact Fr. James if you would like to join this team
  • Greeters – make folks feel welcome as they arrive for services
  • Livestream Team – help make services available to those who can’t come to church, training available
  • Outreach Events – Dates and slots have been added for Project Share lunches through the fall.
  • Readers/Intercessors – lend your voice to our weekly services. Openings for September still exist. Please help if you can!

During this time, the rector and trained Eucharistic ministers may visit others to bring them the Eucharist. Meeting in outdoor spaces of homes will be preferred. Contact Fr. James if you would like to schedule a visit.

You can always mail pledge contributions to the church. The mail is checked regularly. You can also securely give online. Go to and click on the “Give” button on the top right hand corner of the webpage.
