DARBY MISSION
July Food Giveaway

This month we are collecting breakfast bars & Pop-Tarts. As you’re able, please bring your donations of Pop-Tarts, granola bars, cereal bars, etc. to the church by Tuesday, July 19 for distribution the next day. The mission is feeding an average of 150 people every month. You contributions make a difference!
NEW ITEM:
On a monthly basis, we would like to include, along with our “standard” donations to the Food Giveaway, ‘ready-to-go’ Birthday Blessings. This is a package made up of cake mix, cake frosting, lemon lime soda (replaces the eggs and oil), candles, sprinkles and a card. We are hoping to have about 5 per month to give to Rev. Doris to hand out to folks celebrating during that month. This idea came to us via Suzanne Lees who spotted this TikTok posting that explains it all.
Summer Camps
To assist with summer camp projects, we are looking to provide hula hoops, basketballs and soccer balls and arts & crafts project supplies. You can donate specific items, or make a financial donation to the Darby Mission.
There is also a need for spray deodorant for the 4th-6th grade crowd.
To donate items, bring them by the church no later than Tuesday, July 19th. You can leave items by the CAN-estoga wagon on Sundays, in the back pews of the church, or leave with Katie in the church office.
For financial contributions, place a check in the offering plate, mail a check to the church, or donate online using the GIVE button on our home page. On your check write: Outreach/Darby Mission Camps in the memo line. If giving online, scroll down and add Outreach/Darby Mission Camps to the memo field provided.

We will be providing weekly lunches of tomato pies, cold drinks and snacks. We will gratefully accept your monetary donations towards defraying these costs. You can place a check in the offering plate, mail a check to the church, or donate online using the GIVE button on our home page. On your check write: Outreach/Project Share in the memo line. If giving online, scroll down and add Outreach/Project Share to the memo field provided. Thank you for your generosity!
If you have a cooler you are no longer using that could be donated to assist with transport of cold drinks, we would appreciate it! Contact Cassie to arrange for pickup.

+ WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT GUN VIOLENCE?
“Go through the list of mass shootings. Don’t those numbers bother you? …
If young children murdered in classrooms does not touch your soul.
If families attending a Fourth of July parade running in terror
does not bring tears to your eyes …
It is time for us to mobilize, make this a legislative priority, and vote.
Right now, it has to change.”
(Excerpt from a post from Bishop Daniel Gutiérrez)
You have the power to make changes. The diocese has curated a list of places to start. If you want to get involved in a diocesan effort, contact Canon Toneh Smyth, tsmyth@diopa.org.
+ 80th GENERAL CONVENTION OF THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH
The 80th General Convention is being held this weekend in Baltimore, in a shortened format. During the convention, 412 resolutions are being considered addressing an array of topics including liturgy, Christian formation, Constitution and Canons, and many others. The Church will also consider resolutions that clarify the Church’s stance on public policy matters and that direct the Office of Government Relations to take action.. You can view them here. Please pray for those attending that they remain healthy and that God grants them wisdom and discernment as they consider the future of the Episcopal Church.
