DARBY MISSION

Food Giveaways

  • March success! On March 16 we delivered 61 jars of pasta sauce, 20 cans of soup and 1 can of tuna to the Darby Mission.
  • For the April Giveaway we are collecting peanut butter, mustard and mayonnaise. These are for families, so we’re looking to avoid the industrial size containers. For peanut butter, think 16 oz jars; for mustard, 10-12 oz. and for mayonnaise 15-20 oz. You get the idea. The giveaway date for April has been moved up a week, to April 13 so that distribution can be made prior to Easter. So we ask that you please get your donations in no later than Tuesday, April 12.

PROJECT SHARE

Lunches

This week’s lunch preparation for Project Share brought to you by Teamwork! Patty Wertz is supplying the main course, Judy Jervis is covering dessert, and CHA Outreach will supply the beverages and cups. We do have an opening for a donation of a bag of Apostle’s Cup this week, if you feel so moved.

Our Current Drives:

  • Corks – we are collecting these for craft projects at Project Share and the Darby summer camps to build bird houses

+ LENTEN STUDY 2022 – QUEST FOR THE HOLY GRAIL

Part 2: The Well-Traveled Road

  • The walk-through opportunity for “The Well-Traveled Road” that was scheduled for Sunday, March 27, has been rescheduled to Sunday, April 10, and will be held in person in the sanctuary following the 10AM Palm Sunday service.
  • The walk-through opportunity scheduled for next Wednesday, March 30, will take place as planned. Please meet in person in the sanctuary at 7:00 pm.

+ LENTEN RESOURCES
Visit HolyApostlesPA.org/Quest for links to online resources for study and reflection on the themes of Communion and the Blood of Christ. These resources will be gleaned from a variety of sources and viewpoints and with different audiences in mind, including children. New resources will be posted each Tuesday and Thursday in Lent.

+ FEAST OF THE ANNUNCIATION
Schedule change: Please note that the Holy Eucharist service scheduled for Friday, March 25, will now be celebrated at 12:15pm. This will be an in-person service only and will not be available via livestream.

+ FURNITURE DONATIONS FOR THE GODLY PLAYROOM
Are you thinking of Spring cleaning and want to repurpose some children’s furniture? Please consider a donation to CHA for the Godly Playroom. As we prepare for returning to a full Sunday School program and nursery care, it is the perfect opportunity to refresh the Godly Playroom. We are looking for the items noted below, in good condition. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Peter Patton at pmpatton307@gmail.com or Linda Day at lindambday@gmail.com.

Thank you,
The CHA Education and Good News Committees

+ FINANCE COMMITTEE MEETING
The next meeting of the Finance Committee is scheduled for Monday, March 28 @ 7pm in the Memorial Room. All are welcome to attend. Judi Kraft, Accounting Warden and Finance Chair

+ EASTER MEMORIAL FLOWERS
Easter is quickly approaching. It will be a glorious time of rejoicing, remembrance, and thanksgiving. This is true because we believe that those whom we love and see no longer will one day live again through the power and the light of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is what we celebrate at Easter.

To put earthly beauty in the service of our heavenly faith in Jesus, it is our custom at Holy Apostles to remember our deceased friends and family members with a beautiful array of Easter flowers. If you would like to participate in this custom, please send, or hand deliver the names of the deceased loved ones you would like to remember to the church office along with a donation. The suggested donation is $10.00 per name, but please do give only as you are able and so moved.

To participate:

  • You can send a check along with a list of those to be remembered to the church: 1020 Remington Rd, Wynnewood PA 19096
  • You can use the Give button on our website to make an electronic donation. The “To” list includes an option for Flower Memorials. If you choose this option, please email your list of those to be remembered to Patty Wertz (psw17@comcast.net ) or to the church office (holyapostlespa@gmail.com)

Deadline: Please have your requests to us no later than April 11.

+ WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THE CHA CREST?
Share the Good News! – CHA members, families and friends are on the move locally, across the United States and around the world.  On your vacation, take a picture to share with us whether you’re traveling the world or just going up the coast.  Be sure to include the CHA crest magnet in the picture and add a caption.  We’ll publish your photos in the Acts of Apostles or CHA monthly newsletter.  We want to celebrate your joy of adventure, discovery and connection with people, and the moments that moved you wherever you go.

CHA crest magnets can be found in the Narthex, so be sure to pick one up when you come to church and keep it with you.   Pictures can be sent to holyapostlespa@gmail.com .  Can’t wait to see where you travel in PA and beyond!  Remember no matter how far you travel, you always have a place to belong at Holy Apostles.

+ APOSTLE’S CUP COFFEE
Bags of Apostle’s Cup coffee continue to be available for purchase on Sundays and from the church office during regular church hours. Bags are $15 each and $4 of every purchase goes directly to the Darby Mission to support their efforts in the community.

In addition to purchasing coffee for your own use, you can purchase bags as donations for use at the Darby Mission meals or for Project Share.

+ AID FOR UKRAINE
Episcopal Relief & Development is collecting funds to provide humanitarian assistance to those fleeing the violence in Ukraine. Your gift will help provide cash, blankets, hygiene supplies and other needed assistance to refugees from Ukraine, as well as others affected by disasters, emergencies and humanitarian crises around the world.

Help spread the word! Flyers for the concert will be available on the Coffee Hour table. Please take some and hang them up around the local neighborhoods in your daily travels. And “share” the announcements on Facebook when they appear on the church’s FB page.

+ APRIL NEWSLETTER
If you have a contribution for the April newsletter, please submit it to the office no later than Friday, March 25th at noon.

If you would like to help prepare the April newsletter mailing, meet us in the Memorial Room on Monday, March 28th at 10:30 AM for folding, stuffing, stamping and laughter.

+ MASKS IN CHURCH BUILDING
While our Vestry has determined that the requirement for wearing a mask during indoor church services will be based on the Montgomery County positive test rate falling below 7.0%, masks must continue to be worn in the building whenever Little Friends Daycare is in session. Thank you for your understanding and care for the young children in our midst.
