DARBY MISSION

PROJECT SHARE

Lunches for March 2022

We have volunteers for lunches for every week in March. Thank you!!

Wondering what it takes to help with the Project Share lunch program? Be sure to check out the Outreach page of the February newsletter for a detailed rundown of what’s required and the many options available to you.

Our next lunches are planned for May.

Also, we will always accept donations of Apostle’s Cup coffee, Girl Scout cookies and soup to keep the center stocked up with comfort treats.

Warm clothing; KN/N95 masks

We have expanded our collection efforts to include new warm socks and boots in addition to gently used coats. The coats can be for adult men or women, larger sizes and waterproof are best. We’ll be collecting them at the back of the church. If you can’t drop them by yourself, please contact Cassie (610-608-5440) or Katie (610-642-6617) to arrange for pickup.

+ FR. JAMES’ VACATION
James will be traveling to New Mexico from 2/17 through 2/22. If you have a pastoral emergency, please contact the church office via phone (610-642-6617) or email and Katie will put you in touch with with a priest who can assist you.

+ THE GREAT BOOK SORT OF 2022
Join us in the Parish Hall on Monday, February 21st (President’s Day) between10am and 2pm. We’ll be sorting books that have been donated to Park Lane Elementary and the Darby Borough Library. Books need to be sorted into appropriate reading levels, and we’ll be adding stickers to the books identifying them as gifts from Church of the Holy Apostles. As always, many hands make light work. We hope to see you there for all or any part of that time frame you can spare!

IF YOU HAVE A KEY TO THE CHURCH, PLEASE MAKE SURE CHURCH DOORS ARE LOCKED
AND THAT THEY FULLY SHUT BEHIND YOU. THANKS!

+ APOSTLE’S CUP COFFEE
Bags of Apostle’s Cup coffee continue to be available for purchase on Sundays and from the church office during regular office hours. Bags are $15 each and $4 of every purchase goes directly to the Darby Mission to support their efforts in the community.

In addition to purchasing coffee for your own use, you can purchase bags as donations for use at the Darby Mission meals or for Project Share.

+ COFFEE HOUR RETURNING!
We are reinstating our outdoor coffee hour beginning Sunday, February 20th with provision of Apostle’s Cup coffee (regular and decaf), hot water for tea and hot chocolate, and some delightful sweets.

With the return of coffee hour, we will also be needing volunteers to clean up after the 10AM service. This includes taking items back into the kitchen and cleaning the serving carafes and generally making sure the kitchen is tidied for the Daycare folks and that all is ready for the following week’s coffee hour. This will be an ongoing need. If you would like to help coordinate these efforts, please contact Katie – 610-642-6617 (office) or 484-269-2170 (cell)

+ MARCH NEWSLETTER

  • If you have a contribution for the March newsletter, please submit it to the office no later than Friday, February 25th at noon.
  • If you would like to help prepare the March newsletter mailing, meet us in the Memorial Room on Monday, February 28th at 10:30 AM for folding, stuffing, stamping and laughter.

+ MASKS IN CHURCH BUILDING
While our Vestry has determined that the requirement for wearing a mask during indoor church services will be based on the Montgomery County positive test rate falling below 7.0%, masks must continue to be worn in the building whenever Little Friends Daycare is in session. Thank you for your understanding and care for the young children in our midst.

+ MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Intercession brings before God the needs of others (BCP p.857)
The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the Narthex. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. JamesNancy Haas, or use the form on our website.

Cassie asks that we offer prayers of comfort for her home aid, Helen, and her family as they lost their mom, Minerva, last week. They are members at St Luke Greek Orthodox Church in Broomall.

+ CHURCH SERVICE ATTENDANCE
We look forward to seeing you back at church if you feel comfortable there. Masks will continue to be required in the church building when the active infection rate in Montgomery County is 7% and above. Services will also continue to be livestreamed on our YouTube Channel.
