PROJECT SHARE

The clients at Project Share were blessed with a surprise lunch this week of hearty soup, crusty bread and Apostle’s Cup coffee, thanks to the generosity of some of our congregation. We are thankful for your willingness to meet the needs of our extended community. If you have ideas of how you’d like to serve those in need, Cassie is happy to help bring them to fruition. You can reach her via text (610-608-5440) or email (grammysqrd@gmail.com) or – her favorite – chat her up at coffee hour!

December Project
Something a little different for December this year – we are looking to collect games for the after school program at Darby Mission. We still need copies of Uno and Connect4. Contact Cassie with any questions you may have. You can always catch up with her at coffee hour!

Ongoing Projects
Darby Police Book Read & Give Away – Darby police officers will be reading to the children in the after school program. The two books selected are Brothers of the Knight by Debbie Allen and Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. The officers will read the books to the children and then hand out copies for the kids to keep. We will be ordering the needed books from a local retailer.

Period products – We will be providing needed feminine hygiene products for girls in the after school program. To best serve the need, we will be making bulk orders of the necessary items.

To contribute to either or both of these projects, you can make a directed donation. Please make your check payable to the church and in the memo write: Outreach – Books or Outreach – Period

Our annual Festival of Lessons and Carols will be held on December 26, the 1st Sunday after Christmas. We are in need of a few more readers for the lessons. If you want to volunteer, please contact Katie Gentile or sign up here.

A Note from your Accounting Warden

  • Thank you to all who have submitted your 2022 pledge cards.  We are continuing to receive these important commitments as we look to develop our programmatic and financial planning for 2022. So far we have received pledges from 30 households totaling $132,410.
  • Thanks also to those who have remained current with their 2021 pledge payments and a gentle reminder to those who may be running behind.  Your gifts to the church are truly a blessing, and we rely on them to continue our work to honor God and our neighbors.
  • Are you interested in learning more about the financial functions of the church?  We are looking for additional members to serve on the Finance Committee and/or the Vestry.  All members of the parish are welcome to “raise their hand” to serve the church in these important roles.  A background in finance or accounting is particularly helpful, although definitely not required.  Please feel free to contact Judi Kraft (Accounting Warden) at kraft@chop.edu if you have interest, questions, or ideas.

Please take a moment and sign up for Realm! If you lost or mislaid your invitation, you can contact Jean Gentile or the church office to get another.

Once you’ve signed up, please upload a photo of yourself or your family into your profile!

Also – if you’ve already signed up but have lost the link to the Realm website, you can find it under the ACTS section of our website header. And don’t forget to load the Realm Connect app onto your smart phone from the Apple Store or Google Play.

+ TECH HELP NEEDED
Our tech team allows us to reach out to our community with a livestream of our indoor services and creates the videos that preserve Father James’ sermons so they can be viewed by a wider audience. You’ve heard him speak – you know how valuable that is.

We need 1-2 more members for our Tech team. Full training provided. Contact Jean Gentile or Joe Zorc for more information or to volunteer your services. If you know of a local high school or college student who might be interested in this kind of opportunity, please contact us!

+ MISSING NEWSLETTER?
With the holiday crush of mail delivery, it seems some of us have yet to receive our December newsletters which were mailed out on Monday, November 29. If you have not received yours, please check out the PDF which is linked at the bottom of the Worship with Us page of our website. You don’t want to miss out on James’ monthly note – especially this month. You can also access the updated prayer list here.

+ 2022 CHURCH CALENDARS
2022 Church Calendars are now available on the narthex table. If you are unable to get to the church and would like to have a calendar, please contact Katie (610-642-6617) and she’ll arrange to get one out to you.

+ MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Intercession brings before God the needs of others (BCP p.857)
The Parish Prayer list is included in the monthly newsletter that is sent through the mail. Additional copies are also available on the table in the Narthex. To add your prayer needs to the list, you can contact Fr. James, Nancy Haas, or use the form on our website.

New Prayer Requests – please add these to Thursdays on your Parish Prayer List that was delivered with your December newsletter:
Sergeant Derrick Angel Ramos, USMC
PO2 Katherine Dover Ramos, USN
Nadege Madeline Espinoza

The above are the son, daughter-in-law and daughter of Romanita (Nita) Ramos, the wonderful woman who cleans our building on Sundays. She asks for prayers for her son and daughter-in-law, who are both active military, and her daughter Nadege, who is 16. Please keep them in your prayers. And do say hi to Nita when you see her around the building!

+ CHURCH SERVICE ATTENDANCE
We look forward to seeing you back at church if you feel comfortable there. Masks are required in the church building. Services will also continue to be livestreamed on our YouTube Channel. Be sure to hit the SUBSCRIBE button!

+ BREAD FOR THE JOURNEY: SEEKING THE MESSIAH THROUGH ADVENT
December 16 at 12 Noon: Advent reflections from the Holy Land with the Very Rev. Richard Sewell, Dean of St George’s College, Jerusalem. Richard will draw on his deep knowledge of the holy sites and the realities of the current situation in Israel and Palestine to offer spiritual food for our journey through Advent. Using scripture and powerful photographs, he will offer glimpses of hope for challenging times rooted in the reality of ‘the light which shines in the darkness’. This is the 2nd of a two-part series.
