+ MindSet AT EPISCOPAL COMMUNITY SERVICES
Do you know someone with a low-skill, low-paying job—someone who is motivated to get something better? The MindSet program at Episcopal Community Services may be just the experience they need.
If you know of people in your community, your church, or your neighborhood who could use this kind of transformative assistance, please pass along our invitation. If you have people who work for your church or organization who really need something better…but can’t make that move without specialized coaching, please share this invitation with them.
Learn more about MindSet here. We are currently accepting applications for the January 2022 cohort.
Thank you! With your help we can give hope and a bright future to people who feel stuck or trapped. Jesus noticed pain and suffering in the faces around him, and brought healing and joy with the touch of his hands. We can do that, too, if we open our eyes to those around us.
Yours faithfully,
The Rev. David R. Anderson, Chaplain + Chief Communications Officer
+ FORUM ON JUSTICE & OPPORTUNITY
You are invited to join us at our annual Forum on Justice & Opportunity beginning on Monday, October 18, 2021. The Forum will consist of five virtual noon-hour sessions through October 22, 2021, featuring columnist and author Charles Blow and other dynamic speakers. There will also be a special session on faith-based advocacy and organizing on Thursday October 21, 2021, at 4 p.m. featuring activist and Executive Director of POWER Interfaith, the Rev. Dwayne Royster. The event is free this year but requires registration . As always, attendees are welcome to provide a donation should they choose. If you have any questions before the event, please do not hesitate to reach out to Ken Anderson, Assistant Director of Advocacy and Inclusion at Episcopal Community Services of Philadelphia.
+ BLUE JEANS DRIVE
The deacons of the diocese are leading a blue jeans collection. Blue jeans are durable and in need by those who are without shelter. They are asking churches – and you – to collect what you can so they can be delivered to those with the most need. They are accepting clean, gently worn jeans or even brand new jeans. Churches and individuals can drop off at St. John’s Diocesan Center (Norristown); bring to The Philadelphia Cathedral on 10/23 before the diocesan convention begins; or contact archdeacon@diopa.org to make other arrangements.
If you wish, you may leave your donated blue jeans in a bag or box in the Admin office. Katie will be taking a trip out to the Norristown drop off location on Thursday, October 14.
