Worship

Morning Prayer is offered at 8:30AM on Sunday mornings. Morning Prayer according to the Book of Common Prayer is a beautiful and contemplative service, and a wonderful way to begin to Lord’s Day. This does not affect 9AM choir practice or the 10AM service of Holy Eucharist.

This Sunday, October 7th, we are celebrating the Feast of St. Faith during our 10AM service. This special service will include the rededication of the St. Faith Gospel Book for our use.

On the evening of October 7th, we will celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi with our annual Blessing of the Beasts beginning at 5PM. Bring your pet to church (restrained in a species appropriate fashion) to receive a blessing!

Sunday, October 21st at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:00 a.m.: Morning Prayer will be held. Holy Eucharist will take place as part of the Celebration of New Ministry service at 5:30 p.m. that day.

Sunday October 21st at 5:30 PM, A Celebration of New Ministry (Installation of James as 5th Rector of CHA), and the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of CHA becoming a parish. Bishop Daniel Gutierrez will preside.

Sunday, October 28th at 8:30 a.m. and at 10:00 a.m.: Morning Prayer will be held at CHA, and all parishioners are invited to attend the 150th Anniversary Celebration Service at Holy Apostles and the Mediator at 5:30 p.m. that day.

Friday, Nov. 2nd at 6:30 p.m.: All Souls Memorial Eucharist: Commemoration of All Faithful Departed. Please submit to the Parish Office the names of any deceased loved ones that you would like included in the prayers during that service.

Bishop Gutierrez will visit CHA on Sunday, December 9th for Confirmations, Receptions, and Reaffirmations. If you are interested in any of those rites, or would just like to know more talk to Fr. James.

Children & Youth

Nursery Childcare is available during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service for children ages 3 and younger in the Godly Play Room.

Sunday School classes (preschool – 2nd grade and 3rd – 8th grade) are held routinely on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of the month, beginning at 10:00 a.m., the same time as the church service starts; children join their parents in the church in time for communion. On 2nd Sundays children attend church with their parents, either the 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist service or the 5:30 p.m. Family Worship Service. When there is a 5th Sunday, children attend church with their parents, with some of the children taking part in leading the service.

Holy Apostles is working toward establishing a flourishing children’s choir program. Visit http://www.holyapostlespa.org/choir-school for more information.

Adult Education

Fall Reading and Discussion: This fall, interested adults will read Ben Myers’s new book called The Apostles’ Creed: A Guide to the Ancient Catechism. Want to deepen your understanding of the essentials of Christian faith, and how they are relevant to your life? You need to read this excellent book! In order to include as many people as possible, Fr. James will facilitate several discussions about this book on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. But even if you cannot make it to the discussions you can still read this short, engaging, and very readable book. An order has been made, but you are still welcome to join. Talk to James+

Parish Life

RECYCLING! We now have a recycling bin (clearly marked as such) located next to the large trash receptacle outside the kitchen door. All recyclable paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum should be placed in this bin rather than the trash.

If you visit the church during the week (and we hope you do!), please use the red double doors nearest the church offices. Please take special care to lock doors behind you, and ensure that they latch properly. Doors that are not locked or completely shut are a very serious safety concern for Little Friends Daycare. Thank you!
