Beginning next Sunday, May 27th, we will begin saying the EOW version of the Nicene Creed on alternating Sundays.
Children & Youth
Holy Apostles is working toward establishing a flourishing children’s choir program. Stay tuned for more details, and how you can get involved.
Confirmation classes are being held the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 5:00 p.m. All children and youth 5th grade and up (at parent’s discretion) are welcome to attend, even those who are not seeking confirmation.
Nursery Childcare is available during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service for children ages 3 and younger in the Godly Play Room.
Sunday School classes (preschool – 2nd grade and 3rd – 8th grade) are held routinely on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of the month, be- ginning at 10:00 a.m., the same time as the church service starts; children join their parents in the church in time for communion. On 2nd Sundays children attend church with their parents, either the 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist service or the 5:30 p.m. Family Worship Service. When there is a 5th Sunday, children attend church with their parents, with some of the children taking part in leading the service.
Outreach and Service
Connect by Night: This program, in which area churches provide a sleep space for those in need, will be returning to Holy Apostles in July. Chris Costello will be stepping down from leading the program for this summer. If anyone is interested in helping to run the program, there are several leadership roles, including: program leader (organizes the schedule, serves as a contact with the program), weekly captain (shops and maintains lunch-making supplies for one week). Please contact Joe Zorc (zorc@email.chop.edu) if you are interested. Everyone has the opportunity to participate by taking a night to make lunches and greet our guests, the schedule for that will be available starting this Sunday in Church.
Darby Mission: The schedule for hosting Darby meals has been very well subscribed, and our next turn will be on Tuesday, October 2nd at 5pm. Please put that date on your calendar. Reverend Doris also runs a camp for the children during the summer. We provided a lunch cookout for them last year and are targeting Tuesday, July 31st during the day as a time for that. If you are available and interested in participating at Darby that day, please contact Joe Zorc.
Parish Life
RECYCLING! We now have a recycling bin (clearly marked as such) located next to the large trash receptacle outside the kitchen door. All recyclable paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum should be placed in this bin rather than in the trash.
Parish Directory: Recently copies of the updated Parish Directory were sent electronically to those parishioners having email. If you already have a parish directory in a blue folder from last year, please print the new pages, then remove all the old pages from the blue folder and replace them with the new pages. If you do not have the means to print the new pages but do have the older directory in the blue folder, copies of the new pages are stapled in packets labeled “May 2018″and are available on the table across from the rector’s office. Please take a copy and replace the pages in the folder you already have. If you do not have a directory in a blue folder, there are updated directories in blue folders also on the table across from the rector’s office. Please take one. (Please do not take a blue folder if you already have one at home.) Additions and corrections will be sent out from time to time.
If you visit the church during the week (and we hope you do!), please use the red double doors nearest the church offices. Please take special care to lock doors behind you, and ensure that they latch properly. Doors that are not locked or completely shut are a very serious safety concern for Little Friends Daycare. Thank you!
