Announcements
Worship
Today we welcome a special guest preacher, Dr. Megan McKenna. Dr. McKenna, prominent Biblical scholar, theologian, and Roman Catholic lay person, is the author of many books including, among others, On Your Mark: Reading Mark in the Shadow of the Cross; Like a Hammer Shattering Rock: Hearing the Gospels Today; Not Counting Women and Children: Neglected Stories from the Bible; Prophets: Words of Fire; and Mary: Shadow of Grace. Yesterday Dr. McKenna led a diocesan study day, and we are happy that she is with us for worship today.
Acolyte Training: Anyone in 3rd grade and older, including adults, are welcome to participate in an Acolyte Training Session today at 5:30 p.m.
Children & Youth
Confirmation classes are being held the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 5:00 p.m. All children and youth 5th grade and up (at parent’s discretion) are welcome to attend, even those who are not seeking confirmation.
Nursery Childcare is available during the 10:00 a.m. Sunday service for children ages 3 and younger in the Godly Play Room.
Sunday School classes (preschool – 2nd grade and 3rd – 8th grade) are held routinely on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Sundays of the month, beginning at 10:00 a.m., the same time as the church service starts; children join their parents in the church in time for communion. On 2nd Sundays children attend church with their parents, either the 10:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist service or the 5:30 p.m. Family Worship Service. When there is a 5th Sunday, children attend church with their parents, with some of the children taking part in leading the service.
Adult Education
Our Lenten Study Series continues to be held on Wednesday nights during Lent (no class on the Wednesday of Holy Week, March 28th) starting at 6:30 p.m. Our theme will be Varieties of Prayer and this week, Feb. 28th, we will discuss Confession. A soup, salad and bread supper will be provided. If you would like to help with food, look for a sign-up sheet in the parish hall.
Parish Life
Pocket crosses and the associated verse are available in baskets located in the back of the church and the hallway leading into the church. Lent is the perfect time to carry a cross in your pocket as a reminder of who we are and whose we are. A suggested idea for use is to put your hand in your pocket and feel the cross’s presence, then offer up a brief prayer for someone or something. You will be surprised at how many little prayers you will say in the course of a day!
Easter Flower Memorials: Easter is April 1st this year. Please send to the parish office the names of those deceased loved ones in whose memories you would like to donate flowers for Easter. The requested donation is $5.00 per name.
